For centuries, women have been the caretakers, organizers, and overall good stewards of those entrusted to us.
The distinguished Coretta Scott King said to the women she was speaking to that if the soul of a nation is to be saved then we must become its soul. As healthcare providers, mothers, wives, and matriarchs’ we take on the world every day with pride. We are used to wearing burnout as a badge of honor and exhaustion as the creme de la crème of being a woman that has it all. Well, I have news for you, in 2020 the American Heart Association issued a state of emergency regarding cardiovascular disease and minority women. Women of color are disproportionately being under treated, under diagnosed, and dying from preventable disease (AHA, 2020).
